ABOUTUS

Nick Kusturic Lic. Ap., Herbalist, Exercise Phys.

As a Licensed Acupuncture Physician in both Florida and North Carolina, Nick has been in practice for 17 years. He completed his undergraduate studies in Exercise Physiology at Adelphi University in Long Island, New York. There he worked in the Athletic department researching cardiovascular endurance and stress response with professional athletes, including members of the New York Islanders NHL team. After experiencing a personal injury he was advised to see an acupuncture physician in NYC’s Chinatown. It was here that Nick found a fundamental connection between Eastern and Western modalities that would shape his future.

In turn, he earned a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine and Herbology at the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in South Florida. After graduating, Nick spent the next 5 years studying under several prominent Doctor’s of Oriental Medicine in the U.S. and China.  At the same time he pursued the practice of Taiji and Qigong, under Grandmaster Zhu Tiancai and Master Kam Lee. This helped him to enhance his personal well-being and understanding of the art as a martial art and healing modality. He then practiced for two years as clinical acupuncturist at the University of Miami where he developed the fundamentals in running a busy clinic.  At UM he recognized the need for an integrated approach to healthcare. This caused him to pursue clinical work alongside conventional physicians. He spent the following years practicing at Northwest Medical Park working directly with Northwest Wellness Center and the Reproductive Endocrinologists of the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) clinic of South Florida. As his practice continued to grow, so did his desire to create a clinical experience that would stay true to the needs of his clients. So Nick set out to develop DU20 Holistic Oasis, a facility that embodied physical, mental and spiritual healing.  DU20 quickly became a special place in Delray Beach, Florida. The clinic provided an herbal pharmacy and tea bar, acupuncture, sensory deprivation therapy, massage, lifestyle coaching, taiji and qigong, but the lessons of running a multi-dimensional business became taxing on his family life. In search of a simpler approach to balance his business model and quality of life he decided to reinvent DU20 at a new location. He is currently practicing at the WNC Holistic Center in Asheville, N.C.

As an experienced acupuncturist he is dedicated, caring and thorough.  Applying a holistic healthcare model that incorporates principles of Master Tung’s acupuncture, the balance method, 5 elements acupuncture, homeopathy, and herbal therapy into his practice. He enjoys interactions with his clients that allow for a mutual understanding, where knowledge becomes empowering.
